Avengers: My Infinity War

Avengers: My Infinity War

January 17th, 2024 - 3 minute read

I love the Avengers movies and the whole Marvel Universe.  OK, I used to love the whole Marvel universe, what has happened?!?!  This is not the time or the place for me to get into a rant about that; but I have been at Infinity Works (which became Accenture Next Gen Engineering) over the last 5 years and that is enough of a link for me to make a full Avengers themed mini blog post series!

I had such an awesome time, learned more than I could have hoped and met some bloody amazing people along the way.  So was it an Infinity War as the title suggests?  Well, at times it certainly felt as though I was in a war, but it was a war I wanted to be in and wanted to fight.

Over the next 3 blog posts, I am going to talk about my journey to obtaining all of the Infinity Stones, but not so much in the style of Thanos (sure we have all worked with a leader like that).  It is quite a nice analogy however, to consider myself wearing my own Infinity Gauntlet with each stone representing a collection of my experiences over these last 5 years.

So for those that aren’t aware, there are 6 Infinity Stones spread out across the Universe which are:

  1. Space Stone

    • Capable of controlling space itself, providing the user instant access to any location throughout the universe if used correctly.

  2. Mind Stone

    • Grants the user powerful mental abilities, like the power to subjugate the minds of others, bending them to the will of the user. The stone was also said to greatly increase the intelligence of those capable of wielding it.

  3. Reality Stone

    • The ability to warp reality at will, granting that person immense strength, durability, powers, and subjective influence over the universe.

  4. Power Stone

    • Increases the user's physical abilities and allows it to manipulate energy, which, when used at full potential, has enough power to obliterate an entire planet when unleashed.

  5. Time Stone

    • The ability to control the flow of time, notably to turn back something to a previous state, to accelerate its time in order to apply changes that have not happened yet, or to lock it in a time loop.

  6. Soul Stone

    • The ability to manipulate the soul, the essence that makes up an individual, and has the ability to resurrect and conjure the spiritual representation of the people who are dead

In the first blog post which will be coming your way imminently, I am going to tackle collecting the first 2 of the 6 stones.

  1. The Space Stone

    • Post-covid, we now have the ability to work in any location. What impact did being able to work anywhere have on me and the business?

  2. The Mind Stone

    • What have I learnt about how being a consultant is different to a practitioner and how has this helped to "bend the will's" of our customers and colleagues?

I will leave you waiting in anticipation as to how I make the tenuous links to topics relating to the other 4 stones. Don't worry, no resurrections of the dead took place!
