Back on the horse
January 13th, 2024 - 3 minute read
Where to start, I suppose on June 27th 2021
This was the date that I last published a blog post after committing to myself that I was going to start building a new habit and publishing a minimum of 2 blog posts a month. Well, given it was June 3rd when I wrote my first blog post, I can say I at least was successful in meeting this target, if only for 1 month.
It is actually a little embarrassing that I only managed 1 month and there are a million reasons (excuses) for why I didn’t see this through but none of them are groundbreaking. When it comes down to it, I didn’t do it because:
Work was busy, so busy! I had no time to do it between 8am and 6pm - and quite honestly, by the time I had helped with the kids night time routine (or getting home after this) - I just couldn’t be bothered!
There was an element of doubt around whether the content I was going to write was going to be of any interest to people.

Is there anything more cliche than someone committing to a new thing they want to do at the start of a New Year? Well, it just so happens that I have been in a period of self reflection over the last few months due to participating in end of year talent discussions at my previous job at Accenture AND working through my notice period in light of starting my new role as Head of Manchester for XDesign at the start of Jan (more on this to come in later blog posts). Oh; and New Year, new me 😉
Why should anything be different this time round? Great question! I don’t know if it will be to be honest, but there is only one way to find out and having the motivation to write this first post is the start. We all fail in life and I consider last time to be a failure, we learn from it and we go again.
I have learned a lot over the last 2.5 years and I want to share some of the things in my head and the experiences I have had to hopefully help people
My kids are older now, trying to do this with a 1 year old was always going to be ambitious
I think doing this is going to help me personally and will also compliment my new role, it feels like a 'win-win'
I hope you enjoy the content, only 1 more to go to equal the record 😆
